Golf Marathon

May 29, 2009

First, let us thank our sponsors and those who donated in any way to help GIHN eliminate family homelessness. Bless every one of you!

The recap:

Brad Smith played 100 golf holes and raised donations and pledges of over $1,600 for the Golf Marathon.  This was Brad’s second Golf Marathon.

Jay Tarolli raised over $1,200 for the Marathon, was the long drive winner, and played 100 hole of golf.  This was Jay’s third Golf Marathon.

Kevin Bridge raised over $1,200 for the Marathon.

Brad Buxton raised over $1,000 for the Marathon and played 103 holes of golf at three under par!!!

Scott Wood played the most holes and raised over $500 in donations. He was on hole 170 when they pulled him off the course! “Scott, it’s 7:00pm and we wanna go home!”

Dave Gilstrap and Tim Spurgeon both played 101 holes of golf.

Phil McDonald played in his third Marathon and completed 100 holes of golf.

Gary Webb and son, Kyle, played 100 holes of golf in the Marathon.  This was their third Golf Marathon.

George Webster played 85 holes of golf and shot 4 rounds of golf in the 70’s.

Christopher Tweel set the record for the highest score of 112 for 18 holes. In all fairness, GIHN Executive Director Clarke Martin deserves an honorable mention in this category. Although he only completed 12 holes by the 7:00pm deadline, Clarke was well over 100, not counting mulligans, MANY mulligans!

Pat Valentino was unable to play because of a medical condition. His friends raised over $500 was in his honor.

Special thanks to Randy Rains for the Biscuitville breakfast and to Jay Tarolli for the Subway lunch for the Marathon players and volunteers.  Thanks to Jim Patchkofsky, Bob Fogleman, and Frank Biel for set up and support during the marathon.  Thank you Chuck Muller for providing extra golf balls.

The Golf prizes for the Marathon were secured by: Frank Biel, Jay Tarolli, Lori Simpson (Twin Oaks Car Wash), Oak Hollow Pro Shop (Steve High), and Blair Park Pro Shop (Johnny Carroll).

Thank you, Golf Sponsors!
